How to choose a symbolic keepsake
A good amulet or charm begins with meaning. The design matters, but the reason behind the object matters more.
Choose the reason before the object
Think first about what the object should represent: memory, courage, travel, protection as a symbol, family, creativity, calm or a personal turning point.
Match form to use
A necklace, ring, key charm, pocket stone, desk object or framed token all live differently. A keepsake should fit the person’s habits, not just the giver’s idea.
Respect context
Some symbols have religious, cultural or family meanings. If the symbol is not from your own background, learn enough to avoid treating something sacred as decoration only.
